    • Yes

    • Have you tried that /ruinthefun command?

        Loading editor
    • Probably wants to test if his mod is working or just wants to fuck with the game :/ dont be a dick

        Loading editor
    • No, you're misunderstanding. /ruinthefun is an actual admin command in nightlies. It makes you invincible and lets you spawn and craft everything. It only works in nightly.

    • i have a question, how do you enter these codes like /ruinthefun into single player my character got deleted and i want all the stuff i need to have back for a new char.

    • the comand is /admin it only works on servers you have used an administrator password to acsess (this is set in the starbound_server.config under  "adminPasswords" : [ "your password here" ]) and as far as I know it is still only in the nightly builds

    • /admin works in single player now . I have the Upbeat Giraffe Version.

    • To set self as admin for current build, simply set the server to allow anyone admin access and type in /admin to admin self. Then shut down the server and change it back to not allowing everyone to be an admin. When you log back in, you should be the only admin.

    • Is there any way to be an admin without the invincibility and infinite energy?

      You have to purchase the game legally through steam.

    • So I DID legally purchase the game.

      where is the starbound_server.config?

    • its not the starbound_server.config its just the starbound.config

    • the path on my pc is Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Starbound/girrafe_storage/starbound.config. it should be somewhat the same on yours, unless you have a mac. hope this helps.

    • Have they moved the admin user / password listing from the starbound.config? I have set it there before back in koala days, but I can't see the line there anymore.

      Or is it just a case of adding in that line?

        Loading editor
    • ya i cant find it either ;-;

    • For server-related config settings you should be looking for the sbboot file which is found in the same area as your starbound exe. for windows users:

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\win64

    • ok, so lets just make this easy. in the upbeat_giraffe or whatever update, you cannot tell people that its the same as in the koala, its different. so now since that has been said, how do you make youself admin, i mean i have the server running on the same computer im logged onto the server with...

    • This did not help me in any way at all.

    • Really wanting to do this, will someone explain how to get /admin in the MOST RECENT version of Starbound?? THANKS!

        Loading editor
    • "allowAdminCommands" : true, "allowAdminCommandsFromAnyone" : true, "allowAnonymousConnections" : true, "anonymousConnectionsAreAdmin" : true,

      That will make you admin in Glad Giraffe!

        Loading editor
    • is where the file is at that you need to edit

      Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound\giraffe_storage

      is the file that you need to edit

      starbound.config

    • To all the people trying to figure out how to admin your self, here is the guide of the starbound website.

      As many of you have already noticed, the changes from our February 12 unstable update have now been pushed to stable. We made a couple of changes to the way that servers configure user accounts, and since several users have asked about it, here’s a brief explanation.

      Your server’s starbound.config file should now have an empty serverUsers entry. This is where you will add player and administrator accounts. Here’s an example configuration:

        "serverUsers" : {
          "fred" : {
            "admin" : true,
            "password" : "hunter2"
          },
          "george" : {
            "admin" : false,
            "password" : "swordfish"
          }
        },
        "allowAnonymousConnections" : false,
        "allowAdminCommands" : true,
        "allowAdminCommandsFromAnyone" : false,
        "bannedIPs" : [  ],
        "bannedUuids" : [  ],

      Note that both admin and non-admin user accounts are configured here, and all of these accounts require a user name (entered on the join server dialog in game). Multiple users can log into the same account, so if you want a simple server password, you can create an account named e.g. ‘guest’ with the shared non-admin password.

      In order to enforce login for all users, you’ll also need to set allowAnonymousConnections to false in your server’s starbound.config. If allowAnonymousConnections is true (as it is by default) then any user can connect to the server without providing a user name or password. Admins will, of course, still need to log in if those privileges are restricted by the allowAdminCommandsFromAnyone setting.

      We’ve also fixed the banlist functionality, so users can be banned by UUID or by IP. If you want to unban a user who has been permanently banned, you’ll need to manually remove them from the listing in the file and restart the server (for now).

      Hope this clears up some confusion about the new system!

        "allowAdminCommands" : true,
        "allowAdminCommandsFromAnyone" : false,
        "bannedIPs" : [  ],
        "bannedUuids" : [  ],

      things are at the top for me.

    • "Fatal Exception caught: (IOException) Rename error: 3" occurs if you miss a "}"
